Embarking on a solo career after leaving a band can be daunting. People are questioning how you’ll manage it all on your own & if your band members were the core to your success. Will you flop or will you soar through the charts?
Thankfully for former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello, the odds have been in her favour, and she has soared. Her debut solo album, Camila, shot to the top spot of the US Billboard 200 when it was released in 2018. With iconic tracks such as ‘Never Be The Same’ and ‘Havana (feat. Young Thug),’ she cemented herself as a serious artist and became a leading lady of Latin-inspired music.
Now, just six years later, she has finished her fourth studio album ‘C, XOXO,’ and has now just released a special edition album called ‘C, XOXO: Magic City Edition,’ on the 6th of September
‘C, XOXO,’ was released on June 28th with a 32-minute tracklist comprised of 14 songs. Several of the tracks feature well-known artists such as Playboi Carti, Lil Nas X, BLP KOSHER, Drake, JT & Yung Miami, and so the album’s lineup looks promising.
In an Instagram post uploaded on the album’s release date, Camila said the following: “the artists of my dreams are on my album 🥹🥰🫶🏼missing @thegirljt and @yungmiami305 in the pics, that’s next ; ) thank you forever 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐.”
She then proceeded to post on Instagram a few days later, informing fans that acapella versions of the tracks ‘June Gloom,’ & ‘Chanel No. 5,’ are available once you download a digital version of the ‘C, XOXO,’ album. This post was the first of many to give fans surprises and tease what was to follow.
Camila has given us many incredible performances to keep us on our toes and plenty of social media posts to keep us wanting more. Some of the most noteworthy performances for her album include her performing blindfolded, with BMX riders onstage and alongside robotic dogs. Her creative director, Ferran Echegaray, was the mastermind behind these performances and she took to Instagram to thank him alongside all the others that brought her vision to life: “it takes blood, b12, bruises, madness, midol, muses. thank you to the brilliant people I work with who made XOXO, C come to life.”
Her long awaited special edition album “C, XOXO: Magic City Edition,” was released 4 days ago but, before its release, it was teased with a visual poem uploaded to Camila’s YouTube account. Snippets of the poem could be seen on her Instagram as well, giving us even more reason to stay on our toes.
Camila has given her all to tease “C, XOXO,” and the new ‘Magic City Edition.” They’re now available for streaming on all your favourite streaming platforms. Go give it a listen, if you’d like!
